HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEK

ESSENTIAL LIFE SKILLS

Explore, discover & solve problems through fun & interactive lessons!

Our students develop thinking & reasoning skills in 6 different learning areas, using a unique balance of hands-on experiential learning, challenging puzzles and table work to build focus and attention span.

What types of activities do our students work on and how do they benefit from these activities? How does KUNO method support students as they progress from 3 to 6 years old?

Here are the highlights of our latest lesson.

Her

NURSERY 1 (born in 2016)

Practical life activities involving fine motor skills help children learn how to care for themselves and their environment.

In this lesson, children transfer materials with different size and hardness (soya beans vs sponge cubes) with a selection of utensils with different sizes.

These sensory activities help your child gain the experience of making logical associations - how the size of the scoops (spoon vs ladle) and levels in cups correlate with the quantity of beans (less vs more). In addition, they will help to enhance co-ordination, concentration, independence, and prepare children for writing and reading.

NURSERY 2 (born in 2015)

Motor skills such as hand-eye coordination, hand strength and dexterity are essential not only in daily activities but also strengthens the functioning of the frontal lobe of the brain, which controls movement, concentration, problem-solving, thinking, behaviour and emotional control.

In this lesson, we develop both gross and fine motor skills along with cognitive functions through auditory processing skills as well as activities such as knot-tying, lacing and cutting.

All these will benefit your child in strengthening hand-eye coordination, hand dexerity and concentration which increases independence and confidence.

KINDERGARTEN 1 (born in 2014)

At this age, children’s critical-thinking skills and fine-motor skills have developed to the point where they can start using simple tools.

In this lesson, we explore the understanding of the diversity of materials through the lens of a magnifying glass as well as identifying an object based on the magnified part.

This will help to develop science process skills such as prediction, observation and inferring through doing simple experiments which gives them an opportunity to develop habits of mind and attitudes necessary for scientific inquiry.

KINDERGARTEN 2 (born in 2013)

Learning about causal relationships can help children gain more knowledge which will in turn aid with making hypothesis and predictions.

This lesson will focus on general knowledge, more specifically, understanding causal relationships in relation to volume and time.
Emphasis is placed on telling time using an analogue clock as time is an important concept which allows your child to get a sense of their day and also help with better time management.

All in all, understanding these relationships will help your child to make better inferences and draw conclusions, which can be applied to many aspects including math, science, reading and daily life.
